Annette was born in the San Fernando Valley of southern California. She went to a large public high school, then followed her sister to college at a Cal State University, where she met her future spouse. After an undergrad degree in creative writing, she craved more knowledge and got accepted to the UCR Palm Desert Low-Residency MFA program, where she graduated in Fiction.
Being more or less allergic to sunlight, Annette always wanted to move to the Pacific Northwest. She did so in stages, spending a year on the central coast of California, then moving the rest of the way north to South King County, underneath Seattle.
Annette enjoys writing speculative fiction with a tendency toward ride-or-die besties, queer protagonists, and romance sub-plots. While she writes, her Bernese Mountain Dog likes to lay nearby, and one of the cats likes to loudly demand another game of fetch while tripping over Annette's keyboard.
When she isn't writing, Annette spends her weekends working on the backyard garden, and her weekdays working in tech.
